Carbon Neutral Government Programme

Herenga ā Nuku is committed to meeting the requirements of the Carbon Neutral Government Programme (CNGP). We have set gross emission reduction targets in line with less than 1.5 C of warming as required under the CNGP.  

Our base year for carbon emissions reporting was the 2022-2023 financial year, when our emissions were 71.5 tCO2e (tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent). Our gross emissions for 2023–24 were 40 tCO2e. Most of our emissions come from business travel, especially air travel.   

Our 2023-2024 emissions have been independently verified by Toitū Envirocare against ISO 14064-1:2018 requirements.
