Our use of social media

Herenga ā Nuku uses social media as one way for you to communicate with us about the work we do.

Our social media accounts include Facebook, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.

Contributing with respect

We ask that any content you post to our social media accounts is yours. That is, you own the copyright to it. Or, if it is someone else’s, you have their permission to share it publicly.

We also ask that any content you submit is respectful and meets our guidelines.  Those guidelines are as follows:

 Do not post material that:

  • is likely to provoke, attack or offend others
  • is personal or offensive comments about individual members of the public
  • is racist, sexist, homophobic, sexually explicit, abusive or otherwise objectionable
  • contains swear words or other language likely to offend
  • breaks the law or condones or encourages unlawful activity. This includes breach of copyright, defamation and contempt of court
  • advertises products or services for profit
  • attempts to impersonate someone else
  • repeatedly posts the same or similar messages (‘spam’)
  • includes personal contact details such as telephone numbers and postal or email addresses
  • contains links to other websites which break our editorial guidelines
  • describes or encourages activities which could endanger the safety or well-being of others

If your content breaches these guidelines, we will delete it or moderate it.

To protect your security and privacy, please do not share personal or sensitive information when commenting or posting on our social media pages or website. 

Other people’s views

By following or ‘liking’ content from any person or organisation, Herenga ā Nuku is not necessarily endorsing their views or actions.

The views expressed by people other than the official Herenga ā Nuku account on our social media accounts are those of the individuals, not ours.

Private messages

If you contact us using private or direct messages, our communications team will attempt to reply promptly to you by acknowledging your message and referring it to the staff member who is best able to answer your question or respond to your comment.

We will respond to your concerns.

If you have any concerns about our use of social media, you can raise them in the first instance with our communications manager or our chief executive.
